**My Darkest Hour**

Empty words
Forgotten promises
An empty cigarette packet
A half filled bottle of beer

A long desolate road
A battered barn
An all night gas station
An old sleazy motel

A love that could never be
An empty feeling
A lost sense of security
A betrayal of trust
A dream called back
A despondent call for help

A lightning storm cracks through the night
Thunder deafens everything in sight
A blinded eye sees nothing
A deaf ear hears nothing

We conform to rules we had no say in institutionalizing
We live out lives according to guidelines set by strangers
The world meets no one half way
There is always a price we have to pay
Such a cruel world
Such an unforgiving world

A race of monsters as masters
On a collision course
A course set for self-destruction
We live in a state of fear
We live in a world of denial
A world filled with hatred

A peace lost
A belief removed
A love failed
Happiness forged from the misery of other's
A stolen soul
A soul lost amongst the soulless
A heart stolen
Placed amongst the heartless

The winds howling through the night
Like the lies and deceptions through our lives
Uprooting everything in its path
The truth forged from those who wish to be leaders
Our leaders forged from those who wish to be truthful

A never ending flow of teardrops
An eternal darkness clouds the mind
The concept of hope lost
The belief in love all but destroyed
A fear fueled by the circumstances that surround us
An endless supply of memories
Memories which fade in time
Taking with them the truth

The End.
